Eat your way to better health

A collaboration between The Mind & Body Tree's nutritional therapist Lucy Kay, and the good people of Rask to bring you an evening of good, honest, warming food alongside an informative nutrition workshop.

Learn how you really are what you eat (or rather what you absorb!), how food can impact all of your body's daily processes and learn how to support your body with food.

Rather than thinking about foods as 'good' and 'bad', I'll teach you the basics of understanding how certain types of food work in your body, so you can make informed decisions about what to eat and what to avoid. We'll be covering these key principles:

Blood sugar balance
The importance of fat
Nutrient density
Microbial diversity

Understanding these principles gives you back control of how you feed and nourish your body, without having to subscribe to any restrictive diets.

Come along and learn how to promote better health through the foods you eat and enjoy a warming, nourishing Rask bowl.

Tickets are priced at £20 and spaces are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Introduction to gut health & fermentation

These workshops are great for anyone who is new to the idea of gut health impacting health & wellbeing, or anyone wanting to get into fermenting their own veg but haven't quite made the steps to doing it yet.

The format of the workshop is quite informal, starting with a talk about gut health led by nutritional therapist Lucy Kay - what it is, how it works, what problems can arise in the gut and how that can impact us overall. This leads us into talking about what factors can affect our gut health and what we can do to mitigate those affects and boost our gut health.

Fermentalist Simon Praxis Jones of Praxis Probiotics takes us on a journey of discovery as he shows us exactly what's involved in making sauerkraut, and demonstrates the true simplicity and wonder of probiotic fermented veg! He explains the process in detail and there's plenty of opportunity for questions.

It's a really lovely, down to earth workshop that gives you a really good insight into the wonders of the digestive system and will leave you feeling confident and motivated to look after your gut... starting with making your own beautiful probiotic sauerkraut.

Give it a go... what have you got to lose?!
Tickets are £12 and available here:

Vegan Nutrition Workshop

Vegan Nutrition Workshop

It can be difficult to navigate all the conflicting information and advice out there about following a plant based diet. It's often the case that when you switch to a vegan diet, you feel healthier and that's usually because your new diet is lighter and rich in vegetables which helps the body to detoxify and gives the digestive system the nutrients it needs to rest and repair itself.

However, if not undertaken carefully, following a plant based diet long term can lead to problems. There are some essential nutrients the body needs that are more difficult to obtain from a plant based diet, so it's important to consider these carefully and plan your diet to optimise your health and wellbeing.

In this workshop we will examine the nutrients that need careful consideration on a plant based diet and discuss practical ways to be healthy as a vegan.

This is a friendly and informal workshop with plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions. There will be refreshments available and you'll go home with a wealth of material including nutrient charts and recipes.

Spaces are limited to please book early to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be bought via PayPal here https://www.mindbodytree.co.uk/nutrition-workshops-in-derby/
